It is a prominent landmark along US 50, its brick walls unusually close to the highway. ==Description== The original church was built between 1823 and 1827, but was substantially altered in 1877, re-orienting the plan of the building from a simple rectangular building to a cruciform plan with an octagonal apse on the north side. The detailing was altered to a more Victorian-Gothic appearance with simple rose windows and Stick style trim. Only the brick walls of the original church remain.
